My name is Cassie.

Originally from Niles, Michigan, I now call Kalamazoo my home. I studied and developed my craft as a photography major at Grand Valley State University, having learned from some of the most talented professionals in the field. Since beginning my career, I have earned a statewide award for Photographic Expression at the Midwest Creative Architecture Competition, and completed a lifelong goal of my work being featured on the cover of Time Magazine (The Wireless Edition – August 27, 2012).

My goal as a photographer is to capture life’s transient nature. So often we catalog our lives in a series of milestones or chapters, but it’s the in-between moments; the spontaneous moments; the moments that are here and gone in the blink of an eye — that’s where life happens. My hope is to capture these authentic, fleeting moments in time, so they can be cherished and passed down as heirlooms for years to come.

To photograph is to hold one’s breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It’s at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy.
